The Truth about free background checks

If you do a search online for free public record checks, free background checks or anything of that nature, you will come across hundreds of different results all offering a free way to help you locate the information that you need. The truth is however that very few of these sites will actually provide anything useful, let alone free.

Most Websites that offer free background checks will do one of two things. Either they will provide only very basic information, such as name, address and phone number, or they will link you to a page to register you for another service that requires a fee. Obviously this can lead to disappointment, wasted time and frustration.

If all that you are looking for is names, addresses, and a phone number, the easiest thing to do is just use google, or even the white pages. Both of these websites more often than not will point you in the right direction or even fulfill your request. If however you are looking for more specific information such as a criminal record check or birth records, then you will need to pay a fee. Otherwise you will be spending a great deal of time trying to find a genuine site only to be lead in circles over and over again.

Fortunately, public records and backgrounds checks are available, and the fee is usually fairly mild. Most paid services will offer two kinds of membership, either they will offer you a one year’s membership, which will cost more but will give you access to conduct as many searches as you wish, or you can purchase a one off record search which is great if you only need to find the records you need once. There are a few sites however that will, despite you paying a fee, will only provide you with substandard information, or in a worse case scenario, completely inaccurate information.

To avoid this, it’s best to look for public record providers that offer customer support and a full money back guarantee. This gives you a safety net in two ways. Firstly if you are not happy with the results returned, you can ask for a refund and move on, end of story. Secondly, if you are having difficulty using the service and cannot find the records that you require, or are having trouble using the site itself, you can contact one of the customer representatives to help you. Most likely however is that because the provider is offering these benefits, then you can be confident that they believe in their service and that means the quality will be of a higher value than a one that did not provide these extra features in the first place
